Jan Mancuska will be showing two installations across the gallery spaces where strips of 35mm film will hang vertically, illuminated by an artist designed light box. I asked my wife to blacken all the parts of my body which I cannot see, incorporates photo-documentation of a private act produced for public reception.
Mancuska’s other film-based work, Sorry for being so late, is similarly displayed in a grid of strips, creating a temporal-spatial array of images corresponding to a filmed action in a public park near the artist’s home in Prague. The grid’s horizontality corresponds to coordinates on a map of the park, and the vertical order is determined by the consecutive reel of photographs over time.
